Art Center Display

This is my display at the Art Center. It will run for about two months and I've already had some positive feedback on it. The art center may be doing something Steampunk soon and I might get to help with it!

Not exactly goggles.... but still kinda Steampunkish. (not sure if that is a word)

Well, I'm off to work on ATC projects. I can't believe it's already June! Have a great day everyone! :O)

ATC Heaven!

Wow! I feel like I dropped off the face of the earth! It's been run, run, run the last couple of weeks and I haven't posted in so long things I have been wanting to post have piled up! This beautiful ATC is from my partner Blanche . The theme was "Springtime in Paris" over at Blissfull ATC Swap . I love the colors and my camera does not do it justice!

These are all of the goodies Blanche sent along! I love the little charm! It's always so much fun to get new ephemera from people all over the world!

This beautiful ATC is from Laura at Artfully Musing She has a monthly giveaway of her art and I enter every month! This month I was a lucky winner and received this amazing ATC! If collecting ATC's is like collecting baseball cards...getting one of Laura's is like getting a signed Babe Ruth card!
  ..

And this was an unexpected treat in the mail! Judith at Creative Studio won my bag giveaway last month and she sent this beautiful tag in the mail as a thank you! I just love it! :)

and last.. This is the ATC I made for my partner Debbie. The theme this month was "Magic in the air" but the picture really does not show how sparkly the card is. I hope she likes it! Well I'm off to do homework (on-line classes) before bed! I can't wait to show you the steampunk stuff I've been working on...but I'm going to save it for another post!

New steampunk necklaces

I belong to a local art club and every year we have a spring show in our local mall that is judged. everyone who belongs to the club can submit ten pieces of art and out of all that are submitted about fourteen pieces go to the state art show to be judged again. I did some photography pieces but I also wanted to add some of my steampunk jewelry this year.. so I made three necklaces. My favorite is the first one...I called it time traveler

This is my husbands favorite.

This one I called "timeless" and it won a red so it gets to go to the state show! Woohoo!
I have also been asked to display some of my jewelry at our local art center at the end of this month so I'm getting ready for that too!I want to create a really cool steampunk theme in the glass display cases so I've been looking for objects and ideas to set off the jewelry, so far I found a pair of old goggles in my husbands garage and I'm making a steampunk Parcheesi game from pics I saved from plush possum studio . Any ideas on what else I could display with the jewelry?  More pics to come of my display when it's up!

The Little Book of ATC Background Techniques

earlier this year I joined a swap where we had to make ATC backgrounds using one technique and make 15 cards. At the end of the swap everyone got a little book of ATC background techniques idea book to use when you need some new ideas. Wow! I had no idea how many cool effects are out there..like burning glue...or dish soap on a painted surface...or coffee grounds (one of my favorites!)
To get a really good, up close picture of each ATC technique please go to our host blog Jenxo . She put all of these cards together for us and did all of the mailing! Stop by her blog and check out all of the techniques and all of the other bloggers who contributed!

These are the backs of the cards with the instructions

Here they are when they came in the mail...quite a collection! I can't wait to try out a few, like the paint covered marbles...or the melted crayon...or the fusible film....

Ortiz Originals sign is up!

This is a sign I've been working on for awhile now for my friend Pat. She has a great store in my town called Ortiz Originals . She can sew just about anything and she lets me sell my jewelry in her store as well! It just went up today and I think it turned out really nice!

And for all of you out there who love steam punk like I do stay tuned because Pat has an embroidery machine and has the most awesome pattern of steam punk gears! I am hunting for a tee-shirt right now so I can have her make me a steam punk shirt and when I do I will post a pic for you! Check out Pat's website here and keep her in mind for custom embroidery!

Winner!

It's giveaway day!!!! I went to Random.org and put in the number of posts I had and it came up with the number 9 out of 29 comments! So the winner is Judith Tetley of creative studio
Congrats Judith! Please send me your mailing information and if you have a choice of bag you would like and I will get it sent off to you!

This is a project I just finished. I use techniques that I found on one of my favorite blogs The Feathered Nest . This is not the first time I have gone to Dawn's site for inspiration! Her blog is at the top of my go-to blogs!
I used some flowers that I made and some real flowers that I had pressed. It's made on the back side of a canvas. It was a fun project and I finally got to use some of the goodies I've been hoarding saving for a long time! Everyone have a great Saturday! I'm off to the next project!

Vintage style handbags...and a giveaway!

I participated in a swap given by Marsha at tattered chick . The swap was for a small handbag! This is the bag that I made for my partner Kim at Tabby's Place . I started with a simple canvas bag and use my stash of lace and buttons and my new flowers.  The image is from one of my favorite ETSY stores magymai . I also added an old key and an old watchface.

But why make just one?I was having so much fun I kept going and ended up with ....six bags! The first one I made just for Kim, so I decided to give one of these extras as a giveaway! Just leave a comment and tell me which one you would like most! I will pick a winner in two weeks on April 21st. I will be adding something in the bag as well.. so good luck!

saw paintings

I'm done! (well with this order!) I've been working on these saws for awhile now and I think they are ready to go. I do some commission work for people who want to have their parents or grandparents farm painted but it sure does take a long time! I wish I was Bob Ross and able to whip out a painting in half an hour! I enjoy the whole process but I am definitely SLOW!

 Hope she likes them! :O)
